Landlords measure total amps at the panel. Operators see hash per worker. Neither tells you that phase C is riding 18% higher because two 0.08 units landed on the same PDU leg while 0.05 units filled the others.

Measuring Before Labels

We clamp each phase during energize, not after racks are full. Mixed-hash rows need a spreadsheet: model, rated watts, chosen PDU outlet, measured draw at 25°C ambient.

Redistribution Rules

  • No more than two high-draw units per phase on a 32A PDU
  • Stagger energize — bring rows online over hours, not minutes
  • Mark outlets with paint pen, not only printed labels that peel in heat

Monitoring Integration

Phase imbalance alerts belong on the infrastructure channel. A 12% skew sustained for 30 minutes warrants a maintenance ticket, not a pool alert.
